JAMES PROJECT
The James Project is a community initiative dedicated to improving the safety, communication, and understanding between neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with autism, law enforcement, caregivers, and the community. By offering specialized training programs, resources, and outreach, we aim to foster more empathetic and effective interactions during emergencies, ensuring neurodiverse individuals feel supported, respected, and safe.
Our goal is to train neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, law enforcement officers, and the community through mini training and resources and extensive online, in-person, and immersive training.
We intend to build long-term partnerships with law enforcement agencies, schools, and advocacy groups to expand our reach and impact. The James Project strives to address the social, educational, and treatment concerns of those on the autism spectrum/neurodivergent/Intellectual Developmental Disabilities(IDD), parents, autism professionals, caregivers, first responders, and law enforcement. It is a Safety and Risk Management program that utilizes“Applied” research to answer questions of daily concern to those living with autism and defines our goals and program objectives. Applied autism research is “practical research that examines issues and challenges those children and adults with autism and their families face every day.” Based on this research, James Project will meet the need for safety and equality of those who interact with those with ASD/neurodivergent/IDD.
There are many organizations dedicated to autism. What distinguishes us from other organizations is our singular focus on quality training, resources, and real time data that allows users to access information through our web-based app and assist law enforcement by providing data of those with autism within their area code. This readily available access will provide law enforcement and the practical value of its resource materials. The training and the information resources we provide have meaning in the day-to-day lives of persons with ASD and their families. Our ultimate focus is quality of life and objective treatment for those with autism.
