About Us
Greater Valley Community Services (GVCS) is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of community services for our neighbors of all ages! Our programming specifically centers around our pillars of Health & Wellness, Education, and Families. These building blocks encompass programming ranging from community committees, violence prevention, food distribution, foster care, after-school and summer student programs and much more! We serve Braddock, North Braddock, Mon Valley, Allegheny, and Westmoreland communities.

Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen, educate and empower children and families through collaboration and resources while promoting safety, growth, and strong community. Our goal is to be an inspiring influence through our dedication and commitment to service and the provision of quality programs, while using a spiritual and community approach to to support and empower children and their families.
Our History
Greater Valley Community Services, Inc. (GVCS) was formed as a nonprofit corporation in November of 2009 and its location was 609 Jones Avenue, North Braddock, PA. GVCS is contracted by Allegheny County's Office of Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) for providing In-Home and Foster Care Services. We acquired our new building in Braddock, 300 Holland Avenue, in March 2018. This expanded our abilities to extend community outreach programming.
Certifications
Greater Valley Community Services is certified in SAAF (Strong African American Families), a training program developed by the Center for Family Research at the University of Georgia, which works to strengthen parent-adolescent relationships and reduce risky and harmful behaviors.
Greater Valley is also certified in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), another evidence-based parenting program focused on developing positive attitudes, relationships, and conduct to prevent and treat emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents.
