CRISIS IN-HOME

In-Home services may be provided in an effort to prevent the placement of a child, to assist family reunification for a child who is in placement, to address parent/child conflict, and to address other situation wherein the DHS believes the provision of In-Home Services will be of assistance in the accomplishment of the child’s and family’s service plan goals. In-Home Services may continue to be provided when a child is in placement and DHS supports the continued delivery of these services. In-Home Services may also be provided when a child is in placement and DHS supports the delivery of services as a means to assist with the reunification of a child in placement with the family.

Intensive Services are provided when there is a high level of risk to a child. Additional factors which provide the basis for the delivery of Intensive Services include the acuteness and the severity of the problems the family is experiencing; the level of frequency and duration of the family problems; the pervasiveness of the problems the family is experiencing; and the complexity of the problem.

Intensive services are to provide a direct service, identify and link additional resources to assist the family in meeting their goals. The service provider is expected to provide directly and /or through referral some assistance in the following areas: Parenting Skills, Drug & Alcohol Intervention, Behavior Management, Sexual abuse, Domestic Violence, Housing, Truancy/Education related concerns, Mental Health, Medical Management, Early Intervention, Crisis Stabilization etc. These services are intended to support the family, stabilize the changes made, and move toward minimal and eventually no DHS involvement. The service provider is expected to provide directly and/or through referral of some assistance in the following areas: Parenting Skills, Behavior Management, Counseling Services, Advocacy, Career Development, etc.

REFERRAL & INTAKE Referrals are made by the DHS caseworker to the agency intake personnel and can come into the office by either verbal or written requests. All referrals require a referral packet from the Department of Human Services.
